Welcome to Remote Learning for Second Grade!
Always start here in Announcements for updates from your teacher. Once you have checked for announcements, scroll down for directions for your assignments.
We hope you enjoyed your 3-day weekend (January 18, Monday - No School) and ready for a new week of learning! Here are this week's announcements:
You should have received an email from Mrs. Blaine with a video link explaining the benefits of using tools, or manipulatives, to support your student's math learning. Second graders use tools to make sense of math concepts with hands-on experiences before shifting to knowing the math concepts well enough to do them mentally. In her video, Mrs. Blaine provides several different options for creating or buying these math tools, but it is not a requirement to have them for your student. We simply want to provide the best learning experience, and we know how beneficial math manipulatives are to making that happen for your students!
MATH GAME ZOOMS
We hosted our first math game Zoom last week, and we are learning together about how to make this a fun and engaging time for our students. We will be making some adjustments to how we host it so we can increase students' opportunities to respond. However, the link will not change, so please use the previously emailed Zoom schedule for information on joining.
Mrs. Blaine has been sending weekly emails with attachments for each subject area to help you have a summary look at each week's assignments. If at any time you are not sure about what your child needs to complete or has completed, these attachments might be very useful. Also remember you can check your child's Portfolio in Edgenuity and your child's Analytics in IXL for completed work.
END OF QUARTER
Friday, January 22, is the end of the second quarter. We will be halfway through the school year! As remote learning teachers, we have to send grades to your child's home school the week prior to end of quarter in order for report cards to be prepared. That means all assignments from October 26, 2020 to January 8, 2021 have been included in Quarter 2 grades. We will begin our Quarter 3 grades with last week's assignments, January 11-15, and we will unassign all other assignments prior to January 11 in order to give all students a fresh start for Quarter 3. Report cards for Quarter 2 will be mailed the week of January 25.
Week of January 18-22, 2021
Before getting started, watch this video to see how to use the required schedule with Edgenuity to guide you through a day of learning.
Click on Edgenuity to do your Odyssey and Pathblazer work every day.
